Jackie Robinson Day

He was more than just a great baseball player. Jackie Robinson was an excellent role model of a man period.

Well documented for breaking the color barrier in professional sports, his humble demeanor and unquestionable integrity has long been credited with forging a lasting change in all of society when it comes to how the country treated African Americans in his day.

So today Major League Baseball marks the 62nd year since Jackie’s faithful first day with a Jackie Robinson day. A day when every player, their managers and coaches as well as even the umpires, all wear number 42 for a day.

  • Let’s Go Pens! / ‘09 Playoffs

    Just another example of how cool a sports town Pittsburgh can be…The Penguins are in the playoffs and have home ice against Philly to kick things off.

    So, I dug around in my hard drive for a piece of vector art I did in CorelDRAW a while back and thought it appropriate for today’s post.

    Philly’s star players are all healthy for this one, unlike last year but I’m hoping for the same results…
